GSC’s Cara Black and her partner Sania Mirza have reached the ladies doubles final at the WTA Tour Premier event in Stuttgart, Germany after beating local wild cards and surprise packages Antonia Lottner and Anna Zaja 6/2 2/6 10/4.
Black and Mirza who recently made a return to the WTA top 10 after less than a year playing together are in to the seventh final together in that period and will be looking to improve their rankings even further this week whilst increasing their chances of reaching the year end WTA Tour Championships.
In the final they will play former world number pairing and current Roland Garros champions Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci of Italy in a match that is scheduled for after the ladies singles final later today. GSC Director of Sports Management John Morris, who represents Black is pleased for the Zimbabwe veteran “I am so pleased for Cara to be out there reaching WTA Premier finals again, Cara’s story is an unbelievable one really, her father was a former player and both herself and both of her brothers Wayne and Byron have all won grand slams, if you add in to the mix that Cara has returned to the tour as a mother, the story becomes even more impressive. In the short time I have known Cara and her husband I have come to know them as decent, hard working people and results like this are exactly what they deserve. I know Cara and Sania will go out there and give there best and do what they can to win and I for one will be cheering them on to do it.”
